Earth Day 2017 | Birmingham AL
What does earth day mean to you? To me it means being a little bit more aware of all the wonderful things the earth provides us. I always like to spend Earth Day being one with mother nature. I spent this earth day at Ruffner Mountain in Birmingham Alabama with two of my favorite people.
We started the day at Post Office Pies, and let me say, I HIGHLY suggest this place! If you appreciate handed tossed pizza’s with whole stewed tomatoes and fresh basil… then you need to get the margarita pizza. It is the bomb! Post Office Pies also always has a seasonal salad. Currently their seasonal salad consists of mixed greens + strabs + vinaigrette dressing + on a bed of gorgonza cream sauce. OMG! My taste buds were exploding.
Anyways after we were full of pizza and local Avondale beer, we decided to head to Ruffner Mountain. Ruffner is an urban nature preserve in Birmingham, one of few in Alabama. Trails are free and open to the public everyday, from dawn to dusk. There are several trails for all levels. You can bring your kids and have a quick stroll or you can make this an intense 7 mile day hike. Your options are endless.
I always love to document my travels. Below is a glimpse of Ruffners beauty.
